Go Baguio in One Day

When a friend of yours told you he/she had a vacation in Baguio, it would not leave you so interested curious.

Baguio has earned the most visited parts in the country thus named as Summer capital of the Philippines. One can opt to spend a day or two or some more days here to escape the busy city, especially when sun is at its best. Since it's a city on top of the mountain, its environment teem with cool set of air; its pine trees play a major factor to it.

Baguio for me is like a walk in the park. You can find most of its tourist spots in one full day. Or if it's possible with your time, you can stroll around in two days and have better a grasp of it.

Excuse me for overwhelming you with photos. Anyhow, these were sites where you can wander for few minutes and head right after to your next agenda.

From Session Road, you can hail a taxi, say like ours, we started at Mines View. Fare was 60 pesos.

Mines View Park:

- You can shop your pasalubongs here: souvenir Baguio shirts; jams which come in strawberry, ube; peanut brittle; lengua de gato and other delicacies; also, walis, which is one of their trademarks; and key chains.
- Have your photo taken with cute St. Bernard dogs. You will have to pay 10 pesos per one shot regardless of the number of people. I think you can have unlimited shots with different fee. Animal labor? Hmm
- A set of horses with colored hair do the same as with the dogs.
- But don't worry, the site from the Mine's View is still good and it's free.
- There's also a stand which for costumes rental. Costumes were their ancestors' clothes, the Igorots. Pay 10 pesos with unlimited shots.

Trivia: "The word "Igorot" is archaic Tagalog for "mountain people". It is derived from the prefix i- ("dweller of") and golot ("mountain range")." Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igorot_people

- At that time we're there, a folk asked to make a portrait of me. He didn't ask for money but I insisted. Sabi niya hobby lang niya 'yun. Pero nakakahiya naman kasi. Not sure if it's his hobby or he wants to start a job. He also drew Elai. If it's his way of earning or a his hobby, it's okay. Grannies are close to my heart.

Kuya Daryl and Kuya Dino
Makes me laugh every time I see it :))
But I am not girl in the drawing. :| haha. Btw, in my back you can rent a binocular but we didn't notice it for a lot of people crowding around.
Few walks from there is Good Shepherd:
- You can also buy delicacies here. You have to try their version of Ube jam. According to the locals, it’s one of their best sellers. It’s a good taste, but I have to say that my Mom’s version of it is better.
:)
-  And this Strawberry Taho, you surely don't want to miss! For only 20 pesos, you'll have a taste of heaven. Lol. I am a fan of soy bean. Be it soy milk, tofu, or taho. Add to that its strawberry syrup -- heaven.

Something to be noted
Going to Wright Park:
- Ride a jeepney beside Good Shepherd which will take for barely 5 minutes.
- You can do horseback riding for 300 pesos. Before there's a certain track where the activity is done, but now I've seen a couple of horseback riders going around Wright Park vicinity (with a guide, of course).
- Climb the long staircase and it will lead you The Mansion. Before crossing the road in front of mansion, you can stop by to take some photos in lagoon or goof around the pine trees (Edward and Bella?) of the Wright Park.
- Since The Mansion doesn't allow people inside, you just need to take good memories using your lens.
Bes and the walis

- Next is Botanical Garden. You don't need a ride here. It's just a few strides from there. You better have your map and ask some locals for directions.
- Sadly, the garden at that time was under renovation. So we didn't have the chance to see what's inside. Something to look forward next time?
- Then take a cab to Camp John Hay. Fare is around 50-60 php. You will see some establishments here. From signature shops, to fame food chains to hotel. Well, it's almost every where in the city, anyway. We anticipated to see canyons yet failed to see one. We asked some people where we can find it, but they didn't have valid information. Because we're really tired at that point and our check out time was nearing, we decide take some photos and head back to the hotel. Oh, you can also have a picnic and do activities like zipline, paintball, target shooting, etc.

- The camp has a vast space. I don't know where we took our exit (PUV waiting area), but it will give you a good sight of city and mountain combined. Didn't get some shots for we're already drained. It's actually better if you put Lourdes Grotto in you itinerary. Kuya Daryl and Kuya Dino said it's a view and it's a walk. Another steps to heaven?
- Back in the city, you can choose a lot of places to munch. You won't get lost if you give yourself some walks around it.
- We went for our pasalubongs to Burnham Park since it's near where we stay. Mines View Park, Lourdes Grotto and this one are places to find stuffs and yummy delicacies.

Overall, we started our half-day tour at 8am and ended up at 2pm. We are thankful to have met Kuya Daryl and Kuya Dino. Though they, too, were vacationists, they managed to be our tour guides. If it was only the three of us, we would have wasted our time asking/figuring out directions. We just saved time, effort, and money.
Yes, these guides are free. We also left our things in their room so we were spared from heavy bags while we accomplishing our last stop. There in Burnham, we met Ate Sitti and Ate soon-to-be-heiress. I discovered that we have a good haggle attitude. How two Ates made us happy and how we made them happy were some of the positive highlights of the trip. Special thanks to Jhersey.:))
 Looks like Taft in Manila
Saying farewell to our messy room
I've said it before and will say it again: Always trust your instincts. It's not just applicable here, but in daily basis. You don't have to be selfish giving your trust, but you have to trust yourself more. It's fine to be friendly, just not too much. Have Him with you not because your in desperate need, make it anytime. And, and for always... Enjoy!

So in spite of not having some good parts, this trip we had will always be etched in me. :)

Other places to look forward to:
1. Lourdes Grotto
2. Cathedral Church
3. Bell Church
4. Lion's Head
6. Public Market
7. Aguinaldo Museum
